Ramblings and Joyousness

So first of all, I have to say that I am maybe just a little bit psyched because I have finally secured a fieldwork placement to finish off my Kinesiology degree next semester!! Praise God!! If you would've asked me a week ago about fieldwork, I likely would have been restraining myself from screaming in frustration. I knew God would show me where He wanted me to go and put me there and now He has. I'll be working in one of the major rehabilitation centres in Saskatchewan doing exercise therapy. I'm excited about it because it means that I now actually get to work with real people rather than just read about people in textbooks. I now get to try to apply all that theory I learned in school to the "real world." Woohoo!!!

On that positive note, I have also discovered what one of my biggest pet peeves is and probably the only reason I have discovered this is because I go to university. Ok, you know when you pass someone in the hall and you are obviously both in a hurry so you say "Hello!" and smile? K, that's all great and dandy, but here's the part that really annoys me: as you walk past them, they yell over their shoulder "How are you?" even though they will most likely not even hear the reply and even if they do by some chance, you know they likely won't care. Now as much as I am opposed to "how are you doing?" being the opener to every conversation, when I meet someone I haven't seen in awhile I usually ask "how are you?" However, I will not ask that question if I do not have the time to STAND there or STOP and listen to the answer. Therefore, I purposely don't initiate that conversation with someone I am walking past in the hallway. I have been told several times that I have a nice smile (and I'm starting to believe it), so isn't it enough for me to smile my big smile that lights up my eyes and say "Hello!"? I mean, to me that means, "hey there, I see you and have acknowledged you but have no time to talk right now." Isn't that enough? Are people no longer satisfied with a smile? What has this world come to?

While I am on rant/ramble, why do all the "average" people who have made their millions not look "average" at all? You know the ones I'm talking about....the ones whose pictures are on the sidebar advertisements of many websites. Usually the message is something like "average people just like you can make millions. Its so easy." However, I have noticed the wives of these men (cause they usually advertise that it is the men who have made the millions) usually do not look "average". The general trend seems to be that they either look like female bodybuilders or they look like Pamela Anderson or Dolly Parton with their huge chests. Oh yes, and one another necessity is that your face must be plastered with makeup beyond the point that you can even tell its natural skin, you know, like most of the celebrities in Hollywood? It looks like if you took the makeup off of these women you would not recognize them. Is that "average"? I guess it depends where you are living.....maybe all these people live in Hollywood. I'm not sure....they don't look famous....maybe I'm just behind the times but they sure don't look like the "average" people I see every day.

Alright....I will stop rambling now before I start trying to achieve world peace or something like that (yes, I just watched Ms. Congeniality the other night)
