Still here...although maybe not all there
For anyone who still checks my blogs and wonders if I am still alive, this is an affirmative. Yes I am. My more than three month absence has earned me some interesting titles such as "delinquent blogger". Truth be told though, these past few months I haven't even been able to figure out what is going on with me, so how could I be expected to sit down and try to figure things out? In response to something that I did or said the other day, one of my friends said "that's not like you" and I was like, I don't even know who me is so how am I supposed to say who I am? Sometimes I feel like I am 2 different people living in the same body. As I am about to enter my 4th year of university, I have come to realize that things have changed and I am starting to act like an "adult" (AHHH!!! even the word scares me). So many people that I meet and know are surprised when I tell them my age. They say I am mature for my age. In fact, one of my best friends is like 6 years older than me and she says we get along because I am mature. The problem is, the first-year university is still fighting for air-time. First year university, I was full of energy and enthusiasm. I could go until one or two in the morning every day and still manage to wake up by 8. I would do silly, crazy things without worrying about whether or not it was appropriate for my age. Now there are some things that I have no desire to do because people my age "should know better". I see this divide between the young me and the older, more responsible me in the way I relate to people at IVCF. I am starting to feel outdated at IVCF as I do not see eye to eye with the first-years anymore. Which makes me really admire the people who were in 3rd and 4th year when I first came in because they were awesome and got along great with us "young ones". I'm sure sometimes they wondered what we were thinking/doing but they never passed judgement.
These past few months have seen a lot of major changes in my life. The major change was a job switch. I was starting to get tired of and frustrated with working at the pharmacy and they were not going to give me full-time hours for the summer. So I said sianara and headed off to the local animal shelter to take on a position as an Animal Protection Assistant. I have not regretted my decision at all. I love working with animals and most of my job is done out in the field. I am never stuck in one location for more than an hour and I can go pretty much anywhere I want in the city. My "office" consists of a few binders that I take with me in my van and my mode of communication is a radio (how cool is that?). I get to wear a uniform that almost resembles a police or EMS uniform, so people are always staring. Mostly I spend my days driving around picking up stray animals. Occasionally I do some bylaw follow-up if the other Animal Protection Officers are really busy but I usually leave it to them because they are more experienced. Some people, when they hear what I do, say "I could never do that. Isn't it dangerous working with animals?". My response, "no way, its usually the owners that are the problem to deal with." I'd much rather deal with an aggressive animal than with an ignorant/smug/arrogant animal owner. Sometimes I just want to give people a swift kick in the pants and a lot more. I wonder why some people even bother getting animals if they aren't going to take care of them.
Other major switches.....we've switched roomates again. So for anyone who phones and gets the answering machine, don't be confused: April lives with us. She is a farm girl (yeehaw!) so she fits in well with Kat and I and our weird style of living. Also in the last fe months I have been involved in an attempted set-up compliments of one of my close friends. All I can say is: love/relationships are complicated and I think I may have been right in my saying that I dont' have time for a boyfriend. We'll see where things go though.....
Well, that is about all for now. I know I was pretty general but if I were to try to sum up the last few months in detail (wait, that's a contradiction, isn't it?) I would be here forever. If anyone wants to know more of what's going on or just wants to chat, you know where to find me (at least you should if you have this blog)

I did read this earlier - but just now have a comment- I really identify with your "growing up" and "becoming an adult"... I also have have high respect for those of our friends who were in 3rd and 4th year our first year - wow... we made such amazing bonds and i'm pretty sure they often felt like we did/do...
