Upset

My heart goes out to all members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as they bury two more of their own. These men and women often risk their lives to keep the peace and order and this is how our society has started to repay them. You know things are really getting bad when the police are not even respected anymore. We may not have any major wars happening in Canada, but I would say what is happening here is just as bad. We are killing the very men and women who help keep the peace that we enjoy so much here in Canada. I am not naive enough to believe that wearing an RCMP uniform makes you invincible, but I always liked to think that we lived in a peaceful country, one where the ones who uphold the law were respected. I saw a picture on the front page of the paper of one of the Mounties leaning over the casket crying. It broke my heart. Both of the RCMP officers who were killed left young children behind. These men and women who work to keep the peace are humans too and have lives too.....can we not respect them for making the decision to enter into the force and protect us? Will we have to become a country whose police officers automatically train their gun on you when approaching you? I certainly hope not.
