Razor to the Rescue

This is a shout out to all the ladies: I think everyone of you should carry an "Intuition" razor on you at all times because they are so versatile and can be used almost anywhere and you never know when you might need an emergency shave. Not convinced? Listen to Karen's story.

The day was just like any other day at the Animal Shelter. It was about noon time when the call came in: another stray dog was running loose on the city streets. Nothing really out of the ordinary, all in a day's work for an Animal Protections Officer. The call was dispatched to Karen but she was tied up with other work and could not attend immediately. The original caller called in again saying that the dog was "dying". Knowing that people often exaggerate, Karen decided to wait until she arrived on the scene to assess the situation.

When Karen arrived and began patrolling for the dog, she was waved down by 2 people in a back alley. They were standing over a very sick looking dog, so sick that he could not stand up or walk. With the assistance of one of the bystanders Karen lifted the sick dog into the van and onto some blankets. She thanked the bystanders and jumped into her van to rush the dog back to the shelter as it looked very sick and required immediate attention. Midway to the shelter a strange odour began to waft from the back of the van. Not unaccustomed to dogs pooping, peeing or barfing in the van, Karen thought nothing of it and continued on as she was before. However, it soon became very apparent that something was not right. It began to reak like death. Karen opened her window, stuck her head out and put the pedal to the metal. When she arrived at the shelter and looked in the back of the van she knew something was seriously wrong. The smell that had assaulted her nostrils for the last 10 minutes of the ride to the shelter was coming from a pool of blood that the dog had either puked up or "pooped" out.

Suddenly the severity of the situation dawned on Karen: this was most likely a case of parvo. Parvo is a viral disease that causes a dog to basically rot from the inside out, hence the bloody vomit/puke. Parvo cannot be spread from dogs to humans but it is very contagious between dogs. Thus, due care and attention must be taken to ensure that parvo does not enter the animal shelter and put the lives of the other dogs at risk. For an APO, it is a very lengthly process of disinfecting themselves and the equipment that they use, including the van. EVERYTHING that the dog possibly had contact must be bleached to kill the virus. In this particular case, the dog had not been confined to a kennel in the back of the van and so there was a lot of things that he could have touched. Before Karen could even enter the shelter to get cleaning supplies, bleach-soaked towels had to be placed on the floor so that her shoes would be disinfected as she walked in. After she had finished bleaching down almost the entire van, she had to disinfect herself as she had handled the dog. Usually it just involves washing up really good and changing clothes.

Luckily for Karen, she had an extra change of clothes with her because she had been housesitting that weekend and had her bag with her. She had an extra shirt and a pair of shorts. It wasn't super tropical outside but it wasn't -40 either so surely she could survive the rest of the day in shorts. Only one thing remained to be seen: if her legs could be allowed to be let lose and exposed for the rest of the day. One lift of the pant leg and a quick glance told Karen that even a grizzly bear would be frightened off if he saw those legs. There was absolutely no way that she could wear shorts! But wait! She had her razor in her overnight bag! And not just any old razor, but an INTUITION razor, one that required no shaving gel or extra moisturizer whatsoever because it is all on the razor. With this newfound realization, Karen sped to the bathroom, where she proceeded to change her clothes and shave her legs with only a sink and a few drops of water. She came out in less than 5 minutes, legs neatly shaven, freshly moisturized and ready to take on the rest of the day thanks to the INTUITION shaving system.

And that ladies (and gentlemen if any of you are still reading) is how the INTUITION razor saved the day. Seriously ladies, these are the most versatile razors on the planet. All you need is a little bit of water and you are good to go!
